Last Monday was the start of holy month of Ramadan in the UAE. This will last until Eid-al-Fitr which will be on July 7th (subject to change in accordance with the moon sighting). In this month of gratefulness and generosity, there are many ongoing sales in the different parts of the Dubai.
Today, we will check out the different Ramadan offers in four of my favorite electronic product stores - Jumbo, Plugins, Emax and SharafDG.
With the vast availability of mobile phones in the market right now, let's take a look at what these four stores have to offer for the top two dogs in the smartphone race- Apple and Samsung.
First, we'll look at the most famous smartphone (or Samsung has taken their spot?) in the market, the iPhone 6s. In Sharaf DG, their iPhone 6s 128GB now just cost AED 3,399 from its previous price of AED 3,499. Unfortunately, it does not come with any freebies. Jumbo, on the other hand, offers a much cheaper price. Their iPhone 6s 128GB costs AED 3,249 only from its previous price of AED 3,399. However, it is the same with Sharaf DG wherein there are no freebies along with the phone purchase. In Plug Ins, I checked and their Ramadan offers are all for their kitchenware. However, they are offering their iPhone 6s at AED 3,399 which is a little bit higher than Jumbo's. The best offer for iPhone 6s 128GB right now would be in Emax. Not only are you paying less which is at AED 2,999, you also get to have a VR Headset to go with it.
If you are not that particular with your iPhones and would not minding an iPhone 6 (without the S), Sharaf DG has their iPhone 6 128GB at AED 2,599.
Next, we'll go to the brand leader in Android smartphones (in some cases, the leader of all smartphones unless your an Apple kind of person), which is Samsung. Samsung has gained popularity throughout the years because of the wide range of Android devices they have in the market and the superb features in their high end models.
Let's review the prices for their two flagship models, the Samsung S7 Edge and the Galaxy Note 5. The Samsung S7 Edge is available in a Limited Edition Pack. This comes with the Samsung Gear VR. A nifty device that lets you have Virtual Reality when you wear it (I tried it an believe me, it's awesome!). The S7 and S7 Edge both come preloaded with the Galaxy Entertainer App.
Now onto the prices, the S7 Edge Limited Edition Pack (32GB) costs AED 2,749 in Jumbo. They also sell the S7 without the Samsung Gear VR which costs AED 2,649. With just AED 100 of difference, I would definitely go for the Limited Edition Pack. In Sharaf DG, it seems that they do not have the S7 Edge Limited Edition Pack in their Ramadan offers, but they are selling it at AED 2,799 with a 128GM memory card. If you do not need the Samsung Gear VR, you can opt for their S7 Edge offer of AED 2,299. This comes with some great free stuff like a wireless power charger, a Thrumm case and screen protector, and a 128GB memory card.
In Plug Ins, the S7 Edge is priced at AED 2799 with a 128GM memory card. The other store that has nice freebies would be Emax. In Emax, you can get a hold of the Samsung S7 Edge Limited Edition Pack for AED 2,849. This comes with a car charger, a mobile grip, a camera lens and a selfie rod with remote for the selfie addicts out there!
